2nd Grade Field Trip: Quey’s Farm
Depart 8:15am
On Tuesday October 18th the 2nd grade class will be going to Quey’s Farm, located on the Snake River just outside of Mountain Home. We will experience a hay ride, corn maze, hay bail maze, straw mountain, and corn pools.
We will learn about the operations of the farm and get to each pick a pumpkin from the patch to take back to school and carve with Ms. England in garden class. Below is a tentative schedule:
8:15 Leave Syringa Campus
10:00 Arrive & Eat Snack/Bathrooms
10:30 Hayride
11:00 Corn Maze
11:30 Eat Lunch/play
12:15 Pick a Pumpkin
12:45 Load Car & Leave
2:35 Arrive back to school
We will leave promptly at 8:15 and return by 2:35. We are looking for chaperones to drive and join us on this day trip. We need your proof of auto insurance turned in by Monday October 17. We need about 5-7 Drivers depending on space. Please sign up to volunteer on “Tracker”
Charter Commission Visit & Board Discussion
Our authorizing commission for our charter will be visiting our school in preparation of the renewal process in January. They will be meeting with teachers, board members, parents and observing classrooms as well as speaking with administration and looking at curriculum, instruction, data, and assessments.
The Board will have quorum on this day on campus as they will be in discussion with the Charter Commission at 1:30pm.
Student On-Campus Harvest Festival @ 10:30am

Students spent several weeks harvesting our garden, preparing our bounty, and are excited to share a handmade soup with our community!
Join us at 10:30 in the Heart Space for this festive event that will lead us into our Harvest Gala event on October 14!

SMS @ Kim John Payne Wellness Weekend
Join Syringa Mountain School for a weekend of family wellness with Kim John Payne. We will have an information booth with details on Syringa’s unique educational programs at the event on Saturday, October 15.
Grades 3-6 Special Assembly: Guest Speaker, Fred Plotkin
We are holding a special assembly on Tuesday, 9/13 at 1:30pm to welcome guest speaker Fred Plotkin , opera expert extraordinaire.
The Sun Valley Opera is hosting Fred Plotkin throughout the week and Mr. Plotkin is looking forward to sharing his experience and knowledge of the opera with our students.
As an engaging and charismatic opera-lover, this is sure to be a fun event for us.
The assembly is from 1:30pm – 2:15pm. Please plan to arrive in the heart space at 1:25pm. Students will be dismissed back to their regular schedule at 2:15pm.
