Summary of Position:  The position of Classroom Teacher involves managing and implementing Waldorf-inspired curriculum and Idaho State standards to students while ensuring compliance with all guidelines and public school laws.

Reports To:  The Director of School

Responsibilities:  

  • Planning, teaching, and managing classroom activities appropriate to specific developmental age groups
  • Monitoring and evaluating student progress; maintaining accurate records and reporting to the Director of School
  • Communicating professionally with colleagues, board members, parents, and the broader Wood River Valley community

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Idaho State teaching license required or ability to obtain (highly qualified status strongly preferred)
  • Minimum of three years teaching experience preferred
  • Knowledge of Waldorf pedagogy is preferred
  • Science of Reading certified or willing to obtain
  • First Aid and CPR certifications desirable

Duties: (Other duties may be assigned)

  • Manages student behavior to provide a safe and optimal learning environment.
  • Prepares teaching materials and reports (e.g., grades, attendance, anecdotal records, etc.) to implement lesson plans and provide student progress documentation to the school’s director.
  • Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
  • Participates in various meetings (e.g., individual education plan meetings, conferences, in-service training, site meetings, etc.) to receive and/or provide information and/or meet credential requirements.

Skills:   

  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in one on one and small group situations to parents, students, and other school employees.

Summary of Position: We are seeking a dynamic, creative, and collaborative educator to teach K–8 science and farm & garden curriculum. This part-time teaching position combines NGSS-aligned science instruction with Waldorf-inspired garden-based learning, helping students explore the natural world through life, earth, and physical science content in both indoor and outdoor classrooms.

Reports To:  The Director of School.

Responsibilities:  

  • Teach science classes to students in grades K–8, integrating NGSS and Idaho state science standards.
  • Implement Waldorf-inspired farm & garden curriculum, including seasonal planting, harvesting, composting, and environmental stewardship.
  • Provide engaging, hands-on lessons that integrate life, earth, and physical sciences across grade levels.
  • Maintain the school’s garden space, greenhouse, compost system, and associated outdoor learning areas.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate science and garden learning with other subjects.
  • Support student-led garden projects and contribute to school sustainability efforts.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, school events, and seasonal festivals as needed.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, science, agriculture, or a related field (required)
  • Teaching certification preferred or willingness to work toward certification
  • Experience teaching or working with children in grades K–8
  • Familiarity with NGSS and/or Waldorf education is a strong plus
  • Passion for environmental education, sustainability, and experiential learning
  • Ability to manage outdoor learning spaces and work in various weather conditions
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Flexibility, creativity, and a collaborative spirit
